about

The thing I find most interesting in field recording is the lack of variety between days that I perceive as being completely different. For example, a recording taken at 10 am on a Monday in December could sound almost exactly the same as one taken at 8pm on a Saturday in June. I find this quite comforting in an odd sort of a way, that it doesn't really matter what other meanings or obligations we overlay on any specific day or date, the birds will still sing in the morning, people will continue to pass by and the wind will always do its level best to ruin the recording. And there will always be a bloody motorbike.

If you're coming to this project for the first time, I would suggest that it is best understood and perhaps enjoyed from Day 1. Of course if you don't have 214 minutes (and counting) spare, then please feel free to dip in and out, maybe taking a range of tracks from each different album can give you a similarly representative sample.

The album follows on from 'Here #6', which can be found in the discography.
